Andrew Rich 2017 Glacial
"Bright red-ruby. Musky dark berries, black cherry, violet and dark chocolate on the nose. Fat, plush, sweet/savory wine with serious mouthfilling texture and needed lift from spices, minerals and black pepper. Andrew Rich previously picked the fruit for this bottling on the early side, but 2017 and 2018 bottlings strike me as riper and more generous wines, with less medicinal menthol reserve. This is fatter and more chocolatey than the 2018 version--sweeter today--but perhaps without quite the same grip. Finishes with a slightly inky quality and more serious tannins than the 2018. This wine gained in sweetness and its tannins loosened with 24 hours of aeration, while the 2018 remained distinctly drier. 91 points"
